The locomotive in the picture was made in 1946 so it is almost 75 years since its production. The steel bridge structure is even older that it was produced by Andrew Handyside & Co in UK in 1896 so it was imported to Japan 125 years ago. This bridge was registered as a tangible cultural property by the Agency of Cultural Affairs in 2017. FFU bridge sleepers were selected as replacement material because its weight is almost identical to natural lumber and no need of additional strengthening measures to bridge structures.
