Ruhrbahn GmbH is a joint local transport company of the cities of Essen and Mülheim an der Ruhr. On the U11 line near the fairgrounds in Essen, Ruhrbahn has installed four switches and a crossing with FFU synthetic sleepers. The switches are located in front of a tunnel and the ballast thickness is not sufficient for a usual cross section, so it was decided to use a cross section of 12x24cm.
