In 2012, Deutsche Bahn had the second project built with FFU synthetic wooden sleepers as part of the approval for operational testing. The sleepers were installed on an open steel bridge with steel shoes. Since 2017 Sekisui has a general EBA approval for FFU-sleepers from the German Federal Railway Authority for track, switch and bridge sleepers and is therefore the only manufacturer of synthetic sleepers who has this for all the areas mentioned.
