In 2012, Wiener Linien decided to replace old wooden sleepers with new FFU turnout sleepers in all points at the Erdberg depot. Approx. 90 switches were given FFU sleepers, since the tracks of the existing switches were still in good condition, they were retained. According to a feasibility study, FFU made it possible to save a lot compared to installing switches on concrete sleepers.
